In 1984, shortly after I joined Rothmans, Benson & Hedges (RBH) our laboratory purchased our first LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) – LABSAM sold by Agilent. I volunteered to take on the System Manager responsibilities to pursue my interest in computer programming.
The LIMS needed to be fully configured to meet the specific needs of our lab. I also wrote many FORTRAN programs to expand the capability of the LIMS to enable the types of data analysis and reporting we wanted.
I knew many of the technical people at Agilent and showed them the systems I developed to work with LABSAM. Soon they were using our lab as a “showcase” to demonstrate the system’s capabilities to their customers. When Agilent asked me to support their customers by creating custom programs to work with LABSAM and ChemStation (Agilent’s chromatography data system) I decided to incorporate my consulting company.
I’ve consulted for many companies in a range of industries:
- Petroleum
- Pharmaceuticals
- Biological Testing
- Agriculture
- Law Enforcement
- Financial Services
- Consumer Packaged Goods
- Warehouse Management
- Government
- Educational
